BODY

ugly.png

I drew inspiration from Moe Satt’s hand gestures and adapted it into a style of my own, by adding a style in which i used my hands to stretch and distort my face while also doing it to show a gesture of hands which signifies my tone of body language. I don't mean to boast or be prideful but throughout my life I've always received praise for my appearance. While this may seem great, it can actually have damaging effects on psychology. As the praises pile up, I begin to feel a desperate need to fulfill the expectations of the people around me, conforming to society's standard of beauty and changing myself to meet the expectations of others. Besides this, I also felt that my sense of identity has morphed to contain only my image rather than my character and thoughts. I don't want to be shallowly remembered only as someone with looks, I too desire to be recognised for my heart and good will. In all I did this to prove my point that while compliments can be well intended, it is undeniable that it can have damaging effects on the bearer of praise.

A few months back, I had a terrible experience in life that caused tremendous stress and hurt. I wore a moody shirt which reveals the true colors of myself when I sweat. The way it works, the sweater would bring warmth which naturally cause me to sweat and stain the garment, revealing the color of my emotion.

DEVOTED:
cant you see there's nothing left for me?

This performance art is about different "male oriented" issues that we are currently confronted with, regardless of race, age, body representations, or sexual orientations.
